Why the yearly plan is crypto, and what that does for you

A recurring card charge shows up on a statement with our name on it. For a lot of people that is fine. For someone whose reason for using this service is that nobody around them should know it exists, it is the leak the encryption cannot fix — a shared account, an accountant, whoever opens the post.

Paying once, in crypto, removes that. There is no card on file, no renewal charge, and nothing on a statement.

What it does not do. It does not make your account anonymous. This service runs on being able to reach you — check-in reminders are the whole mechanism — so we will always have a working email address for you, whoever it belongs to. Paying in crypto separates your name and your bank from this account. It does not separate your inbox from it, and we would rather say so than let you find out later.

What happens if a payment fails

Nothing sudden, and nothing you would not expect. A failed payment will never cause your documents to be sent, and it will never stop them being sent — only your check-ins decide that. If a subscription lapses we keep trying to reach you, and your trigger stays armed and unchanged until it either fires or you check in.

If you are still checking in, so we know you are there, we will not deliver anything. We will ask you to fix the payment, and if you do not, we will eventually close the account and delete your documents — after telling you first and giving you time to get them back. The same words are in the terms.

The limits, stated plainly

100 MB of encrypted storage on either plan. Larger allowances will cost more; that is not built yet.
100 MB is the largest single document.
Moving to a smaller plan needs your stored data to fit inside it first. We will never delete a document to make a downgrade possible.
